Meet Our Founder-Jean Huelsing RN, BSN, MEd
Jean is an award-winning registered nurse, teacher and fitness practitioner. She is the founder of Camp Jump Start and is an internationally recognized health expert. She has helped her participants lose more than 100,000 pounds!
Jean has authored books and created programs to guide struggling children and designed the Camp Jump Start Training Camp.
Jean has written articles for many publications including consumer magazines, newspapers, blogs and professional journals. Her research is published in
peer-reviewed medical journals throughout the world and the Camp Jump Start success is recognized in text books and documented in international publications and books as well. Jean is an international speaker.
Jean has been interviewed as an expert by People, Rolling Stone, and affiliates for NBC, CBS, ABC and FOX. She provided background information for the documentary “Fat Like Me”, worked with MTV for an episode of “MADE”, which was filmed at camp, and was featured in the Emmy award winning PBS documentary about the success of
Camp Jump Start campers. She has interviewed on talk shows such as “Face the Truth” to discuss and provide options for childhood obesity resulting in sustainable weight loss success. She has even presented at a national congress in Washington DC regarding childhood obesity complications.
